I have found my great grandmother Jane Williams who married a Edward William Swan in 1871 in Bridge, nr. Canterbury, she was born in Port Madoc, North Wales, another name I have is Penmoria, she was born 1844. On her marriage certificate I have her fathers name as Humphrey Williams, a Farmer, and roughly I worked out he was born 1795, I cannot seem to trace him at all, can anyone help, it would greatly be appreciated. |

Could you give me the information again of the 1851 census as it seem to have disappeared when you sent the information, thank you |

Jane Williams married a Edward William Swan in 1871, her father was a farmer named Humphrey Williams, this was on the marriage certificate, I'm beginning to wonder if she wasn't born in Porthmadog, confusing |

What leads you to think she was born in Porthmadog? |

My Aunt told me she was born there and I've seen later census after 1871 stating that she came from there, the man she married became a Police Constable in 1871, I think it was on the 1881 census the name came up. I really appreciate your help on this, |

If her age in 1881 is accurate, she was born earlier than you thought |

The last two census information are the family that I'm linked with, now its the working back from there, I've got back to Bridge where she was a servant in 1871, its from there back I can't get. |

She married on June 3rd, the question as to how they would have met is very baffelling indeed |

There may be a clue, not sure when the census take place, but on the census of 1871 she is a cook, it looks like a Jane Williams on the census the person underneath is Eliza Cook, that was the name on the marriage certificate who was one of her witnesses, if you look it up I typed in Eliza Cook born in Bridge |
