Hi While researching a Jane Miller Wilson born c 1878 in Newbiggin-by -the sea, i have been told by numerous people she was painted (possibly by a Morpeth artist 'Miss Bradley'). The painting was possibly called 'The English Fishergirl' and it won an award when shown in London ( London Acadamy of Art? ). Jane was 16 years old when she was painted, dating the portrait about 1894. In the portrait she has her hair in plaits and a fish corl on her back. Research through obvious means has failed to find either artist or portrait, so i am hoping somebody out there may be related and have more information that can shed some light. Her father was William Wilson born c 1847 in Morpeth, Her mother was Jane Miller born c1858 Alnwick. Thanks everybody |
