HI CAN ANYONE HELP I need help finding my g-g-g grandfathers first wife i have found my g-g-g-granddad Samuel wood born Ashton in Lancashire in 1792 but i think he was married twice his what i think is his second wife Ellen was born Ireland 1818 I have found them in the 1851 cences with a son William but then in the 1861 with son Joseph and daughter Ellen but no William
the thing is i cant find a marriage for Samuel and Ellen or anything about Samuel before 1851 cences could anyone find them on 1841 or did he have another wife before Ellen Also Ellen was born Ireland how do i find any info on Irish relatives Ellen born Ireland 1818 first son William born 1850 second son Joseph 1853 Ellen born 1858

this is remotely possible if john is son and betty is widow. 1841 gives rounded ages and does not give relationships.
what I am saying is that you do not have enough definite info to find him on 1841. He is not in his birthplace. You do not have anything on his parents or children from a previous marriage. and he was 49 years old in 1841 so could easily have been married before. There are about 5 possibles on 1841. You will have to do it by elimination and working through each of them in each census till you can eliminate them.

JUST TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP I PUT THE POST ON AND 10 MINS LATER I FELL DOWN THE STEPS AND PUT MY SELF IN HOSPITAL SO I HAVE ONLY JUST BEEN ABLE TO READ ALL YOUR RESEARCH AGAIN THANK YOU I KNOW SAMS WIFE WAS ELLEN THE THING THAT PUZZLED ME WAS THE AGE DIFFERENCE SO I THOUGHT HE MIGHT OF BEEN MARRIED BEFORE ELLEN. SAMS PARENTS WERE JOHN WOOD 1771 AND SARAH WARDLE 1766 HE WAS BORN ASHTON IN LANKS AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP PAULA Hope you are feeling better. If you knew his parents already it woud have been helpful to add it to the post. I have given you the possible families in 1841 so you will need to work through them now till you eliminate all but one.
