I am trying to find details of my mothers father George Arthur Wood,(could be the othe way around) who lived in Ashby,Scunthorpe, and died in 1968.He was also in the Royal Navy serving from HMS Dolphin with the submarines.I am stumped!!!!!!

Can you tell us a little more please Sandi? Did he marry your grandmother for starters? If you have their marriage the cert would help a lot.

Otherwise, do you know where he died?

Are you thinking he was born in Scunthorpe? It wasn't a registration district till 1938 it seems, but was covered by Gainsborough and Glanford Brigg. There is this birth but you need to ascertain a bit more about him:

Just for reference...
HMS Dolphin was a shore establishment, home of the school of submarines.
It was near Gosport, Hampshire.
