I am looking for my grandmother's twin sister Elizabeth Wood b 1894 in Whittington near Oswestry Shropshire England April 20, 1894. Her mother was Emily Morgan b Feb 21, 1877 in Whittington as well. Elizabeth's father was John Wood b 1873 in Guisborough Yorkshire. The last I can find on them is the 1901 Census where they were all living in Heptonstall at 39 Acre Lane Registration district Todmorten, subdistrict Hebden Bridge with 4 boarders. The 1911 Census has father John Wood living in Guisborough with his parents Robert Rickerby and Martha Wood, and his new wife Esther and four children all born since 1903. No mention of Elizabeth. I can't find Elizabeth or her mother Emily in the 1911 Census. Where should I go from here? I'm lost now that I have run out of censuses! Should I look for their deaths? If so what would be the efficient way in view of the fact that all I know is that it would be after 1901? Should I look for a marriage for Elizabeth? If so, how? Other ideas? Your input is much appreciated!

If her father had a new wife in 1911, this suggests that her mother, Emily, had died. Have you found the father's second marriage?

On the 1911 John says he has been married for 8 years which puts it at 1902/3. His wife comes from North Ormesby which is near Middlesborough so this could be their marriage

Marriages Jun 1902 (>99%)
Allen Albany William Middlesbro' 9d 1012
>>Cotton Esther Middlesbro 9d 1012
Fisher Hannah Middlesbro' 9d 1012
McIntyre Michael Middlesbro' 9d 1012
>>Wood John Middlesbro' 9d 1012

The only death for Emily between 1901 and 1902 of the right age is in Leeds but it means he married within a couple of months.

Deaths Mar 1902 (>99%)

Wood Emily 25 Leeds 9b 370

As for Elizabeth she could be working anywhere in the Country.
Where is Alice in 1911?

Hi Astra,
Thanks for the marriage info. That looks like a good possibility. I will follow that up. Regarding hi ex-wife Emily. I have found an entry in the 1911 Census that is interesting. It shows an Emily Wood of the right age living as a cook for the Bolton family in Birmingham. The only problem is that it says she is born in Whitcott Salop (Shropshire) rather than Whittington Salop. Both places exist but my Emily is from Whittington. I wonder if it could be a mistake?

Finally, regarding Alice, I cannot found her in the 1911 Census however I know that in 1915 she married my grandfather in Whittington.
Thanks for your help.
