Jodie Report 2 Sep 2010 12:01

I'm trying to find brothers Walter and Mervyn Wood (or decendents). Parents are Eleanor Harriet Wood (nee Wood) and Charles Wood married in 1909.

The family seemed to move between Victoria and NSW.

Anyone out there?

We need a little more info - like date of birth & where born.
The more info you give the easier it is

I don't have a date of birth, what I've told you above, is pretty much all I know, which is why I'm asking for help. The family moved around a lot between Victoria and NSW ie Maitland, Newcastle, Mildura, Melbourne, Ballarat.
I'm guessing because their parents were married in 1909 they would have been born sometime between 1909 - 1920.

Oh, and apparently they were "very good looking boys" - does that help :)

Hi Jodie,

Not sure if you have this - ???? death of Eleanor in New South Wales

Reg No Surname Given Names Fathers Name Mothers Name District

16876/1952 Wood Eleanor Harriet Walter Bennett Eliza Burwood

Do Mervyn or Walter have 2nd names? This might be the anly way to find them.

Birth in N.S.W. are online only to 1909, and I cannot find any births to 1920 in Victoria.

Cannot find any deaths in Victoria or N.S.W for them.

Thank you! I did not have the death date for Eleanor, I only knew she was buried in St Thomas Cemetery Enfield with her husband Charles and mother Eliza.
Unfortunately I do not have middle names for Mervyn or Walter. However I did find a Walter Allen Wood who wrote a book about the history of the Hunter Valley region, which is where the family was for sometime. And "Allen" is used a couple of times as names for various relatives. I haven't been able to get my hands on the copy of the book yet.

Hi Jodie,

Maybe change your heading to include Electoral Rolls, someone with access to the Electoral Rolls might be able to find where they lived at various times.

I have access to Electoral Rolls and it's too hard to pinpoint the right person with such common names.
