George Wood (c.1849) I am looking for any info re my great-grandfather George Wood who was born in the Stockport area in c.1849. He went on to marry Mary Cook (from Chester) and on the 1881 census he was working as a rag-and-bone dealer in the New Mills area of Derbyshire. The couple had two children, Emily and William. My grandmother Caroline was born later in 1888. On her b/cert. he was shown to be a carter, but on her marriage cert. in 1905 he was down as a newsagent. I know nothing after that date. Any info would be appreciated. - Pauline. |
