Seeking the parents of my grandfather, John Charles Wood, born in Bombay in 1868, to William and Louisa Wood (nee King). William was said to be a captain in the British army and originally from Scotland but I am unable to trace him. John became a farmer in Queensland, Australia and his farm was named Woodhouselee which I believe has a Scottish connection. Oral history has it that there were relatives in Scotland (one a minister of religion) where John C stayed during his education, he migrated to Australia in his late teens and as far as we know never saw his family again. |
