These Woods are from a Birthday book that must have belonged to my great grandmother, Jane Bell Purvis. I don't know if they are related to me, but I would be interested to find out about them, and to know how the birthday book ended up in my mother's posession!. William Wood, b.1840 in Lanchester, Co.Durham, m. Isabella Davison, b.1842, Boxler's Bar?, Northumberland. Their family was Annie N Wood b.1860 Aaron D Wood b.4 Dec.1868 Maggie Wood b.18 Nov.1872 Nellie Wood 1 Sept.1874 Durham, 10a 428 William Thomas Wood b.3 Oct.1876 Lanchester, 10a 340. As you see I have found indexes (only) of the two youngests' births, and I also know that the family lived at Cutlers Hall Road, Benfieldside, in 1881. From the dates in the birthday book I was able to draw up trees of two families who were connected - verified by looking up info online - the Davisons and the Parnabys. I am hoping that someone out there might connect with this family and recognise the other names. I have done a bit of sleuthing to find out a bit about them but would love to know more. Other connected names are Forster and Batey. I have an inkling I am connected to the Forsters as my mum had a cousin in Hessle, Hull, who I am sure was a Forster. I just can't remember her first name. |
