My Woods came from Portknockie, Banffshire. GGGgf was James Wood, a fisherman, who m. Margaret Reoch/Riach about 1805. Their family was JAMES, ANN, GEORGE, MARGARET, ELSPET, ALEXANDER, a boat builder, 1821 -61, m. Jane Mair. MARY and JANET. Ggf Alexander and Jane had a large family, GEORGE, HELEN, JAMES, JANE, GEORGINA, Ggf ALEXANDER WOOD 1857-1910, bank clerk 1881 Portknockie, later a bank manager in S. Shields, and DAVID. Alexander jnr moved to Co.Durham sometime between 1881 and 1896, m. Jane Bell Frater (nee Purvis) and had my grandmother Evelyn Georgina. Any connections out there? |
