Trying to find Mary Ann Young born c1800 who married James Matheson in Belford, Northumberland in 1821. She appears to belong to a Belford family but census returns list her place of birth as Liverpool. I have information from a family bible which shows the marriage of George Young and Dorothy Archbold and a list of their children. The next entry is the marriage of Mary Ann and James, this leads me to believe that she is the granddaughter of George and Dorothy, but who was her father? Mary Ann has to be grand-daughter as she was still having children in 1840, it can't be the Mary daughter of George and Dorothy as she would be too old by then. My Mary Ann must be the daughter of one of the sons of George and Dorothy. |

Why do you think George is grandad rather than father? Have you checked the IGI |
