I'm trying to find a George William Young b.c1876 Bedfordshire.
I have been doing the research for an elderly lady I know.
I've found his WW1 records and also his marriage to a Rose Jane Bull on 28th March 1901, but not able to find him on 1881 or 1891 census.
On his war records he is listed as William Young aged 40yrs and 3 months old, but his birth record (June Quarter 1877) states George William Young.

Can anyone help me?

Think this might be a wrong one as his age is listed as 10...which would make him born 1871

Michelle Report 11 Aug 2010 22:31

Nellie Bull is the sister of his wife Rose, her family all came from Little Staughton and Great Staughton, Bedfordshire. I've managed very well with that side of her family.
George is the hard one though...lol

So they were married at the time of the 1901 census?

Michelle

They married 28th March 1901 St Neots, Bedfordshire

Most of the census returns were April time weren't they?

Think I will need to speak with her about George.

She had managed to find a piece of paper with his name and army regiment and date he signed up.
I was then able to trace his WW1 records, and they had his wife and childrens names and DOB's, also the address they were living. Her family was very easy, and I found the info quite quickly.
Once I got to tracing George back further I had problems. He may well have called himself William at times which is a problem.

Thanks for your help anyway its appreciated x

Oddly I too am trying to trace the same person back on behalf of my adopted sister-in-law. Only today I purchased the 1911 transcript and immediately became stuck. I would be very grateful, if you've ordered the birth cert if you would sahre the details of his parents. The birth appears to be 1877 Bedford. I would also be willing to share the costs.
I have access to military records but I have 2000 entries, would you please be so kind as to give me a heads up?
Very gratefully
Julie
