Hi guys - Some of you may be experiencing problems accessing the Genes Reunited site. As some of you may know, we have had ongoing performance issues, and whilst testing out some of our fixes we are having to disturb some of our servers. If you are having trouble logging on please refresh your browser and try again.

We are focusing all of our attention at the moment on getting these performance issues rectified. This is a process of trial and error, so we apologise once again for any inconvenience caused whilst we are fixing these issues.

UPDATE:

The last few days has seen some extensive activity coming from some of the senior technicians at brightsolid to try and identify the errors and performance issues occurring on the site. Some of you may have been affected while they tested out these changes and put under heavy load the last couple of days, but progress has been positive so far and we need to continue work on this and get it resolved once and for all.

As a result, while these changes are being tested and retested, and while the new database indexes are still being created for the messages we are unable to roll out the Message Centre patch. This will be rolled out as soon as practical.

Thank you for bearing with us while we try to rectify these issues.

We have just completed the first phase of an exercise to rid the site of some of the most common faults and performance issues. This work has been going on for about 10 days now, including upgrading servers (newer versions of Windows), upgrading components, changing baseline code, adding extra configuration on the database.

This work did involve changes to the site over the last week or so, but the end result from a technical position is that we appear to be running far better than we have for a while.

There are still some issues that we are working on and we have two more releases planned before Christmas to address these, some Message Centre bugs and give a little extra.

My thanks to the team that came in to work on this, which included Toby, Duncan, Phil (another one) and Martin.

I would be very keen to get some feedback from those that have suffered the most, and also hear about any areas that still appear to be causing issue.

My thanks also to members for their patience over the last 12 months while we have battled through so many issues.
