Awwww thank you Rose :-)

suzian, you have not been following.

I have it on good authority (a real man on the eharmony discussion board) that 5-10 pounds "overweight" is tolerable. Beyond that,

you're a fat chick!

Stop pretending not to be, you'll be dashing the hopes and dreams of every man whose path you cross .....

I actually sent somebody a message at OKCupid last week. He just reminded me so much of No.2, siiiigh. And his username was a thing from my all-time favourite movie. My Man Godfrey. The original, of course, Powell and Lombard, not that appalling Niven and Allyson do-over. I'll bet that not two other people had ever "got" his username.

So we sent a couple of messages (didn't talk about anything but stuff, not dating stuff), but hey, he's not into monogamy (I got to see all his answers to all the gazillion questions), and I am (yes, well, not into "polyamory" anyhow), and there's that pesky No.1 filling the space at the moment ....... sigh ......

Cat! you're not fat! You're a bright, vivacious lovely young woman! ( so there lol)

Not exactly a fat chick, Janey

Just pleasantly rounded.......

The whole thing just strikes me as weirdo. ;)

And the commercials where that guy just can't wait to get communicatin' -- ewwwww.

Go look at OKCupid. Sign up for free, do what you want. It will give you matches rated according to the answers you give to a gazillion questions. Answer the ones you want, ignore the rest (and there are a lot you will want to ignore; the fetish community writes large at these places). And play quizzies!

Maybe there's a quizzie about this Vinnie Jones person ...

*Takes note of OkCupid*

As a fat chick I won't need to be uploading any photos ;-)

ChAoTicintheNewYear

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 14 Jul 2010 22:54

You can ask to skip guided communication but that only works if the other side agrees.

As for the multiple choice questions, there is a 5th option where you can put your own answer in.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 22:52

Right, another fat chick ...

Is this Vinnie Jones short, fat and bald? Or any two of the above?

You might have a chance, if so.

suzian

suzian Report 14 Jul 2010 22:50

I've never tried one of these sites - before I give it a go, is there anyone out there who looks a bit like Vinnie Jones, is worth a million or so, and is desperately seeking a slightly over-weight aged 50 or thereabouts lady?

No?

I thought not.

I'll not bother, then!

Oh, and OKCupid is free. Unless you want to upload photos ........

....... which, of course, fat chicks don't.

Hahahaha!

Cãt and Rose -- stick around, there are the free communication weekends, I'd say every weekend from the number of commercials they run, but several a year anyhow, including this very weekend ... Rose ... !!

I have no idea how it works. They have this "guided communication" thing (all I can think of is the hoaxsters who pretend to be relaying messages from the severely autistic). Is there another way to do it too, without using their multiple-choice questions? The current favourite on the advice boards is "what was your parents' marriage like?" To which my answer might be: mind your business. Actually, I wouldn't mind it as a subject of conversation with someone I met, but as a first-contact question to a stranger??

Okay, enough of that place, drowning in banality there.

Do you frequent www.okcupid.com?

That one's fun. It has quizzies to keep you busy for a year. And also the odd interesting person.

ChAoTicintheNewYear

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 14 Jul 2010 22:40

Lol Janey

They didn't communicate with me, bit difficult when I never went on the site, I didn't communicate with them either. The matches were dated from July until November when I actually joined (paid membership). I deleted most of them straight away. I have communicated with some, some have communicated with me but so far no luck. As I said previously my membership runs out at the weekend so we'll see.

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 22:38

In my case I am not paying to join so I'll never know lol...

maybe I am just too old to really be bothered to find a 'Mr Right' now that matches my criteria...maybe I have no confidence that any one of them would want me lol...

or maybe the 'one' has made all others pale into insignificance !

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 22:36

Oooh Irene! A free communication weekend! I'm not sure how I'll contain myself!!! Are you gonna sign up???

Cãt -- you didn't pay now, did you? Of course not, or you wouldn't have waited months to check the matches. ;)

Well, I have to admit I haven't done anything with my matches. They just sit there.

Oh, but you mean men you contacted -- well yes, that's just pig-ignorant.

You need to come join me on the discussion board. You can whine about the rude men who don't answer messages, and be meat for the jackals. Get over your self!!

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 22:33

Of course, the question is -- had any of the 200 (and will any of Rose's 7) actually *communicated* with you?

Hah. I may only have been matched with 28, but I haven't been rejected by 200. Hah.

I did get one message. There used to be multiple choices for why someone was "closing" a match. This one was "no picture". So I altered my profile (which was surely surly enough already) to warn anyone tempted to bother me with such noise that they should whine to the management about their matches, not to me.

ChAoTicintheNewYear

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 14 Jul 2010 22:30

My biggest problem with this site is the amount of "men" that I contacted that didn't even have the courtesy of say not interested simply by closing the match.

Doesn't really matter now, my membership runs out on the weekend. I'm not renewing.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 22:30

Oh, suzian, I almost missed your distasteful comment. Blech. And you expect a guy to kiss a girl with a mouth like that?

No wonder you can't get a date. Nobody dates a smart you know what.

I believe this calls for some sort of reminder about appropriate humour. Ladies do not tell vulgar jokes. That is the job of the menz. However, if one of them tells one of them in front of one of you, you must excuse yourself gracefully and call a taxi.

Leaving him to pick up the tab, but of course.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 22:26

Right.

7 matches first time out, 200 matches sitting in the waiting room.

And you all come to me for dating advice.

Now what does that say about you all?
