DET, Marje is not new. I have seen her around for months, and her membership number is older than mine, which is nearly three years. Under the new changes by GR, everyones number has the word new at the side of it.

Marje has repeated this request for advice, on General, today (Thurs 23rd). A PM has been sent ( not as yet opened @ 1711) in case she was expecting GR to email her. Hopefully she will be able to find both threads and read the advice. From her membership number, she may be relatively new to the Boards.

Hi Marje, if you would like to give the details, perhaps someone can have a look for you.

I have found - on Ancestry, haven't got platinum here - that it sometimes helps to magnify the individual words - and if you print those bits out set it to high. Don't know if GR has the facility for enlarging. Some of the 1841 ones are in a bad condition.

You could try down loading it to your computer as a jpeg (don't know if this is possible on GR)Then play around with it on your home computer with what ever photo package you have.

Alternatively, give the details of the census page you were trying to view, and someone can have a look for you. It's probably on another site with possibly a better image.

You used to be able to able to play about with them ...make them brighter or darker, make then look like a negitive

Not sure though if you still can

Has anyone got any ideas as how to go about reading a very faded census form? I have just looked at 1841 trying to find a distant relative & it's so bad that nothing is on there apart from the district... I feel I've wasted credits. Thanks anyone Marjorie
