Hi, I am just starting out and hope someone can help.
My nan's marriage cert says maiden name Warwick (formally Jones).
so I looked up Jones and found the family,
The couple (Mr and Mrs Jones) had been married only 4 years with own child aged 1 (Ref: 1911 census) also living in the house were stepchildren ages 6-19 (my nan being 6yrs old).
Nan was born 1905
I am finding it hard to get my head round the above, because to add to my confusion, I think she later adopted by Mr and Mrs Warwick,
She never mention the name Jones during her lifetime and all papers she had were for Warwick. (Plus I know my nan had a brother Fred Warwick- but he may have been her half brother or step bother, It all seem straight-forward until I read the 1911 census saying stepdaughter to Jones. (nan said her mum died young and we assumed she meant Mrs Warwick!) can anyone help Please?

It does sound rather confusing. What surname do the elder children have? Are they Warwicks at this point?

Marie,

Can you copy & paste the 1911 here?

Hi Marie, who are we looking for in 1911? Can you give names and DOBs please for reference purpose.

it sounds like a second marriage to me as i have come across that myself

without giving clearer guidelines ie names of parents dates of birth and an area it is virtually impossible for someone to help out x

Marie posted another thread last night on Trying to find.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/cook_and_jones/thread/1255037.

I've sent her a pm advising how to get back to her threads.

As someone who has posted in the TTF thread - thanks, ChristineinPortugal.

Of course, all further discussion should be on that board, where it belongs, and to avoid duplication as the rules require.

Sorry did not know I was posting 2 of the same topics, I assume I leave this one alone and reply in 'trying to find' thread? Slight mistake sorry the birth cert says otherwise Warwick (not formally etc). Will give all details I have on other thread as a reply to all. Think that's what I do?

Many Thanks
Marie

No worries Marie, it can be very confusing on here when you are first starting out. So yes, put all the details on the thread you have on the TTF board. This board is really about just having a chat. Good luck with your research. x
