Hello,

I have managed to purchase the marriage certificate of Matilda Hill - her age is: full age, living in Eccleston, Lancashire in 1872.

Matilda's father was Archibald, but I don't know any other details.

Charles Johnson's father was named as Ellen Johnson.

Can anyone please find any of these on any of the census' ?

I think that could well be her. On one census Matilda was down as being born in St Helens, and with the father being Archiabld, I think you have found her - thank you.

I wonder if she appears on the 1861 census?

What was Archibalds occupation, there is this one in 1861, image says Archibald. He is a Glazier.

Archibald's occupation on the marriage certificate in 1872 was a glass painter, so this looks like it could be the right family, but are the names below correct?

thank you very much - it seems as though you have certainly managed to find the right family.

Regarding Charles johnson - all I know is that he was off full age in 1872, and that he was a labourer residing in Eccleston at the time of marriage, his father's name being Ellen and there is no profession listed.

Regarding Archibald, I was wondering if he appears on any earlier census' as a child - it would be nice to find out the names of his parents if possible please.

On Free BMD a Mary Hill married a Charles Alfred Orchard 1875, Prescott, Lancashire.
