Can anyone help me find the birth details of my gt gt gt grandfather Edward Hunt, he was born in 1828 (calculated from census records) in Smethwick Staffordshire, he had a sister Hannah born 1831. In 1848 he married Jane Ashton Wittacker in West Bromwich, from this I have found his father to be a Joseph Hunt, Blacksmith. My problem is his mother and beyond. I have been given a possible mother of Lucy Turton, and she and a Joseph Hunt do seem to have had children, Pheobe, Joseph, John, Charles, Rebecca, Henry, but somehow I can't fit Edward and Hannah in with them. I am wondering if their mother died and Joseph remarried Lucy and had a second family. So if anyone has Parish records for Smethwick I'd be so pleased to hear from you, if I could get back beyond Edward and his father I'd be quite happy (well as happy as a famiy history searcher ever is!!!) Can't find the Ashton Wittacker lot in West Brom either, but really want to do the Hunt bit, told my Uncle 3 years ago I'd get it all down on paper for him one day, as he's 80 this year I feel I should try and do all I can. |
