Residing in a lodging house with lots of others.

I can't see a connection to the Fellows family, not even to Jane who I beleive was a Benton before marriage.............. think you'll have to order Claras birth cert to clear this 1 up!!!

Carol

It's interesting, the 1901 does say "daughter' under relationship ......... but occupation is Domestic

The father Benjamin is a Coal Hewer

So either ............ she is a daughter of a previous marriage being treated as a domestic servant, or there is no actual relationship between them, and the entry in the raltionship column was a mistake by the enumerator.

Carol ............... you do realise that after all that research that Dee did, Clara Yapp could be just the General Domestic Servant for the Fellows don't you?

She could well have no relationship to them at all.

You should always attempt to open the census image and see what it says about relationship and occupation!

BTW ....... James Fellows age 31 on the 1901 Census is actually JANE ........ Benjamin's wife, and mother of the children!
