Thanks Rob - that worked.

Potty, are you using a different PC to that you used yesterday? If so, log off from GR and log back in. That worked for me.

Potty

Potty Report 19 Nov 2010 11:33

What has happened to all the changes made yesterday or is it just me?

The Help Clinic button has disappeared; My Threads is back and the reply box is no longer appearing at the bottom of the threads.

Joy

Joy Report 19 Nov 2010 08:58

So far I have gone into a couple of threads and removed all nudges bar the most recent.

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 19 Nov 2010 08:38

Presumably is you move a nudge that is the very last post, the thread moves back down the board to the time of the previous post.

Anyone checked?

Joy

Joy Report 19 Nov 2010 08:25

I am gradually removing nudges from useful tips threads that I have in my bookmarks :-)
At last the nudges can be deleted.

My latest complaint to GR:-

........ do you realise that your statement on the Help Clinic Guidelines that "Genes Advisors are not employees of Genes Reunited, they are members recognised by us for their effort and knowledge when helping other members." ................ makes the rest of us look inept ...... and will lead to poeple thinking that helpers on other boards are less than knowledgeable. This was not exactly what was meant when I and others asked GR in the survey earlier this year to make more recognition of the fact that all the help offered on this site was by members. How do you know that the Official Advisors ARE in fact the best and most knowledgeable helpers?? I can tell you for a fact that there are others who are much better than you would ever believe ................ and I do not count myself among them, even though I was one of the ones approached last week.

I'm going to sent to Coventry by them!

Madmeg

you cannot post on Help Clinic threads unless you are either a starred advisor OR the thread owner

BUT that does not stop you posting and helping on any of the other boards

I was assured in my exchange of emails with GR that they had no intention of removing or altering the Boards ........... Tips, Record Office or any of them.

That means there will still be lots to do.

Estelle of GR did tell me that the Help Clinic was intended to help newbies, which was why they were intending to aim it only ar Standard members (having worked out that newbies took out Standard rather than Platinum or Gold) ............... didn't tell her that in my experience it's the oldies who are Standard members!

I was also told that the Help Clinic was one day a week?????

Most of the questions on there today seem to be from oldsters, ones who have had threads on the regular boards before, and not found the way through their "brick wall"

see you on the boards!!!

I think you can pm anyone on the clinic board but not reply.

But if you.re out of hours go direct to accident and emergency !

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 19 Nov 2010 02:44

So can us "non-starred" people reply on the Clinic posts? Or are we now resigned to either the easy stuff, and the stuff that the limited number of Clinic members cannot solve?

Have GR taken away my hobby? Will they pay for treatment for my withdrawal symptoms?

Does this mean the end of the Tips Board, and the Trying to Find Board? If so, I suspect an awful lot of us old hands will not be renewing our subscriptions. End of an Era maybe. Bye bye Janey, Jax, Lancashire Ann, Click on the Purple Button Not on My Name, even BrummieJan (traitor!!), Jonesey, IGP, Mgnv, Sylvia, and all the rest of you that I have worked with and who have helped me in the last few years. Good luck for the future.

Love

You have to log out, close your browser, log in again, and the wonderful Help Clinic will be there.

Can you get flu jabs online from it?

Like Irene, I think the Yellow Star has bad connotations

No one other than the starred "official" advisors or the thread starter can post on any of the Help Clinic threads

I opted out of the invitation to be an Official Advisor after being told that one would NOT be allowed to post any information from any site other than brightsolid

I was offered Platinum membership on GR, free fmp subscription and free credtis on Scotlands People, plus a gift at Christmas, to help other members ......... but could not post from ancestry, freebmd, etc etc

I do notice that the current advisors are c&p'ing from those other sites!

I was also told that the Help Clinic would be open to Standard members, as they had figured that most newbies became Standard Members.

I do note, as someone has already said, that their statement that "they are members recognised by us for their effort and knowledge when helping other members." does make the rest of us look inept

not exactly what was meant when they were asked to make more recognition of the fact that all the help offered on this site was by members.

F5 did not work for me - nor reboot - finally just clicked in the white space top left - under Community

And the Help Clinic button appeared - and has stayed there ever since

Joy Report 18 Nov 2010 22:07

HUGE (( hug )) for cousin Tony :-)

It wasn't there earlier here either then someone suggested pressing F5. Didn't work, so tried again and it did!

Flick Report 18 Nov 2010 22:02

You should see the help clinic at top left, with a STAR....just below 'Community'..........not as part of the drop-down.

TonyOz

TonyOz Report 18 Nov 2010 21:22

Mmmmm...have just logged on Aussie time 8:20 am east coast.

Cant see any "Help Clinic". All Boards are exactly the way they were 3-4 years ago.

Perhaps us Aussies and Kiwis live to far away ( sob )...lol

Help clinic has returned. It had probably never gone in reality. However - please see http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards.page/board/general_topics/thread/1249359 - in .com it is not there, now it is.
