I am trying to find some info on Thomas Brakenborough, born in All Saints, Wainfleet, Lincs in 1816. I have tried looking but can't find any info, he is on the 1861 Census & classed as a brother, he is 45 at the time, & the other people on the census are, George Trowill aged 26, his wife Eliza L Trowill aged 26 & James Trowill aged 9 months. I am tracing the Trowill family tree at the moment.
Many thanks
Angie

On the 1861 census on Findmypast Thomas Brakenborough is classed as a separate household to the Trowills. He is recorded as "Head" of his own household, living on his own. He is NOT recorded as brother. His name is recorded on Findmypast as just Thomas Braken.

Hello everyone, just got back on here, thanks so very much for this info. So I wonder why his name was down as Brakenborugh, that really through me out.
Thanks
Angie

I think it was because the name on the actual image had been squashed up and crossed out and was difficult for the transcriber to read.

If you look at the census image it is quite clearly written as Brakenborough in spite of the crossing out. The enumerator had particularly legible handwriting. I suppose he must have misheard. Brackenborough used to be a village in Lincolnshire.
