Kay???? Report 3 Jan 2012 17:09

GR set guidelines in place along with their t&c,then it should be down to them to monitor and act, not let members report purely on their own opinion its not up to them to act for GR or on their behalf as to what can and cant be posted by other members.

Maureen R Report 3 Jan 2012 17:06

I had a message from GR telling me that I'd breached the guidelines and T&Cs but not saying in which post nor in what way, so I don't know what to avoid in the future as mine was a fairly long post about some problems I'd had with Ancestry and wondering whether anyone else had experienced the same problems. I certainly wasn't recommending that anyone use that site!

BMW123's post - I added a comment that I couldn't make the hyperlink work (just being curious). I see it has now disappeared from My Threads so presumably it has been deleted by GR or BMW has done it himself.

BM123's posts that had the address for his new website were all deleted. The thread makes no sense now with his posts gone.

InspectorGreenPen Report 3 Jan 2012 15:40

Just had a message from GR to say one of my recent postings has been deleted.

Any ideas as to which one this might be as I am at a loss to work out which one.

I was zapped for mentioning the A word how pathetic . I received a warning. I wonder if all of the other members that responded received warnings too !!
I am seriously thinking of not renewing membership only a couple of days to go.

Joy just being curious but....

how did you get your link on this thread to show my last post first which is why
+++DetEcTive+++ thought that it was started at 09-37 today???

Kense

Kense Report 3 Jan 2012 14:41

It looks like BM's thread about his new site has gone. Not surprising really but I'm sorry his enterprise has been curtailed.

Joy Report 3 Jan 2012 14:32

Perhaps I'll give a nudge to a useful sites thread, see if that gets reported ;-) there again, maybe it will sign me out before .....

Nope, my post was 2 Jan 2012 21:57 ;-)

If, and only IF, the most recent RR'er is an overnight user of the site, then they may have missed the one Joy's highlighted which was started at 0937 today, 3rd Jan.

Kense Report 3 Jan 2012 14:23

It looks like BM123's post is back but the one about Ancestry subs has gone I think.

So have the reported posts been reinstated now? Mine in http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1289001?d=desc mentions two other sites.

You do have to wonder what is going on in peoples minds.

As least I now know what the 'problem' was.

But that does not make it any better. We always mention other sites on here for research purposes. We all know that you need as much help as possible and in some cases there are people on other sites such as Rootschat who specialise in certain subjects and are not necessarily interested in Genealogy/Family History but their assistance can be invaluable in our own research.

YAH BOO SUCKS to the phanton RR'r. :-P

I don't think I saw what the original posts were about, but I presume they referred to sites such as Rootschat etc.

That site is often suggested by helpers on here in an endeavour to help others who are looking for someone to search a local graveyard etc. As GR does not work in the same way and each site has its own merits, I would have thought that quite acceptable.

Maybe the annoyingly repetitious RR'r needs to get untangled from their red tape a little.

I will now stand with my head bowed and my hands tied behind my back as I await the fall of the axe for mentioning the word....Rootschat.

Flick Report 3 Jan 2012 13:35

I'll happily admit that I have reported a couple of threads in the last year, BUT that was only after sending a PM to the poster requesting that the inappropriate info be deleted, and finding that it hadn't.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 3 Jan 2012 12:34

Surely it wouldn't be GR requesting a review? They wouldn't need to request, they would simply review and either delete or leave it?

Kay????

Kay???? Report 3 Jan 2012 12:25

Its about time these people who belive they have a high status on GR as unoffical guardians of the boards, took in more fresh air,or had the courage to add thier name to threads they report because a post isnt to their liking and resort to telling members what to post!
