The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:

The Irish 1901/1911 censuses are free at:

If you look at the back of the A image or the enumerators summary sheet, you'll see the name of the poor law union - this usually coincides with the civil registration district.

From Ancestry online image.....

Name: James Henry Walker .....carman
Age: 28
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880
Spouse Name: Mary Hughes
Spouse Age: 24
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 12 Apr 1908
Parish: Poole's Park St Anne
Borough: Islington
Father Name: James Walker ......moulder
Spouse Father Name: Michael Hughes ....labourer

Witnesses :- Mary Emma HAWKINS and Charles Thomas NUDD.

As Mary marries using just one Christian name, I think it is likely that her birth was registered with just that one name, - Mary too.

Hello Patcham
Gro Ireland sent me this cert saying that she was the only Mary born that year
what I cannot get my head around is why would her marriage cert say fathers name Michael
yet on this birth cert it states fathers name has Matthew
I asked gro ireland if they would be so kind has to look again and they came back with a Mary born same year in North Dublin but again not to a Michael Hughes
Liz
On the basis of looking up the Mary`s family who I have the birth cert for I found out that by 1901 Matthew had died Catherine his wife was still alive and living at Bow Lane south Dublin the same is also for 1911 :-S

Have you looked for the family in censuses?
Do you think you have been sent the wrong birth certificate?
Who did your grandmother marry?
Thank-you
