It opens in the first tab you have opened on GR, the one you probably accessed to sign in.

Look along the top of your screen -
Assuming you've accessed your tree from the home page, before you start working on it, you'll have 2 tabs open

Home-Genes Reunited
Family Tree

Once you click on a star, the response on the tree page might be
You have 1 record match = View
You have 8 Tree matches = View.

If you click on the Tree matches, look along the top of the screen again.
The tab which used to say Home-Genes Reunited now says Genes Reunited. That's where the tree match results are.

Choosing the record match results in the type of record being offered opening in a box on the Tree page
If you click on the 'View', the tab which originally read as Home-Genes Reunited now reads (eg)
Doris Smith - page 1 - Birth Recor...
Click on that tab to see the result.

If that isn't happening for you, you need to contact GR

If you are clicking on the purple star (which is how I have understood your query) and then on either records or matches, you will find them on the main screen underneath your tree!!

It has just taken me several minutes to find this - not obvious and not explained in the Help section.

You can't view anyone else's tree until the tree owner has given you permission to view it.

If you find a match in 'search all trees', click on' find out more' to send a message, asking for permission. BUT..............remove the standard GR message, and type your own, explaining where you think your trees are linked.

If the tree owner is willing to share his/her tree with you, you will then be able to view it.

It isn't a free-for-all, where you can access other trees at will..
