i have done a big part of my family tree, i would however like to go on and find the history, of any of my family, anyone done this and how do i do it please

Perhaps you could clarify.............and include some date/location info, in order that any advice will be more likely to be relevant

What do you mean by the 'history'?
Have you got the marriage certificates, so you know the occupations?
Have you joined a local family history society, so you can gain from their local knowledge (or do you live away from the area?)
What era for history?
Did they belong to any trades that kept records?
Male or female ancestors?
Have you got any family photos?
Articles in magazines and books from library can go into details far better than a few lines on here.

To be honest i find it hard to understand how you could have done a large part of your family tree without finding their history,

Did you do all your own research?

all records give historical details
census gives birth place, relationships and occupations, BMD also give occupations deaths can also tell you relationships and often cause of death can help

Then their are records such as trade directories, military, travel, immigration, apprenticeships, and Google searches for info, just for starters, the list is endless

Genealogy is the study of families and the tracing of their lineages and history.

thankyou everyone, my father was named leonard steeples, he was born in dabesmoor in 1907 to my grandpatents william and elizabeth, i have census of all his brothers n sisters, and all children they had, i have sent for some death certificates, however, i was a child when my father died and all his family apart from one had already died, i am seeking to find occupations any photos the steeples family may be part of, im just unsure where to look.
i do appreaciate all your advice

Have you tried Search All Trees which is under SEARCH at top right hand of the page.

You can contact from there anybody who has your relatives in their tree.
