Researching: comments who reads them

I am just wondering how many people actually read the Researching: comments under members names.

I was having a look at them this morning. Suddenly realised that if they are more than a one liner my brain completely ignores them. I want to read the message so I'm oblivious to the clutter.

I tried to add something on mine but I'm not really sure what benefit it really is. Though as suggested have explained who the Avatar/photo is

:-D :-D :-D

I normally read them to see who and where others are completing their
research.

But in saying that if I have read someones and they then changed it I wouldn't necessarily notice.

The researching section was added a while ago now by GR. Other sites have a similar section.

If you do not know about such things, they are simply there for you to add whatever it is you are researching so that others can see and, maybe, contact you if they can help or have information for you.

More long standing members, such as myself, have added a helpful tip in the hope it will help new folk.

Others just use it as a chance to be amusing.

I read them, just in case someone mentions an area or name I am researching.

Some are very informative, which must be useful to newbies who are probably likely to read all the content of a post put on to a query thread.

Most of the regular helpers also have tips shown in the research box.

Have had a couple of replies from members researching the same names

BUT those do not read guidelines etc on this site will probably not read anything in the research box anyway

Sally - good point as I used to name my dogs when that picture was being used and also that of my grandfather. So off to change mine.

Sally ..........

I always identify my avatars .................. although not always as fully as I might do, as I want to keep some things close to my heart.

I also have a tip added :-D

I also look at other people's entries, and not only on the first time of seeing them, either.

I find almost all of them interesting and informative, and like you, like to know where or who.

There are a few entries that are boring, or yuk inducing, though!

I think it's about time I changed my avatar ................. if I can decide what to put next :-)

I'm shamed into adding a description of my avatar.
