Hi again. FG Hughes according to 1881 was still still alive and kicking in London. His son FJ Hughes born 1888 emigrated to Australia but stowed away on a merchant ship, found in Asia and made to work his way. This I found him around 1910 arriving in Australia.
It is prior to FG hughes that I am now stuggling on. I haven't as yet found marriage certificates just on census's.
Think this might be FG Hughes parents. Would you think the same that they may of been travelers?

Jennifer - Could you please give us the birth reg for Frederick G Hughes, and the earliest census you have of him?
Details of his marriage if this took place in the UK would be helpful as well.
When did he emigrate so that any UK records after that can be ignored?

Do you have Frederick's DC in Australia? Does that name his parents?

We're struggling a bit, so if you can give as much information as you can, it would be great.

Even my 2nd great grandfather was only just old enough to have left home then

Think there must be a few generations missing

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 16 May 2013 22:01

Look in 'search all trees' for his name etc

Have to say it seems unlikely that your grandfather would have been old enough to run his own business in the 1850's

Welcome to the boards Jennifer.

Can you tell me what year your grandfather was born and where please if you have it.

There are quite a lot of Fred Hughes in London in the 1850's.
