Sue in Sunny Worthing Report 28 Jul 2013 19:02

Hello, sorry I have been out all day (making the most of the sunshine on Worthing's sunny seafront)

Thank you, I had already found those entries in 1901 & 1911 but, as Susan said, the father isn't the same name and he has a different occupation which is a shame

I have also already checked the Irish 1901 & 1911 census and cannot find a Gibbs family that fits .... I think I have exhausted all look ups :-(

Thank you for your help ...

Susan

Sue in Sunny Worthing Report 28 Jul 2013 07:25

Good Morning
Rambling Rose - I found a Walter Gibbs living at that address in the 1891 Electoral Register but I think that only gives the head of the house so I needed to look at the 1891 census to see who his family were

Reggie - the witnesses were C.M. Duce and J.A,W. Mitchell
I have tried unsuccessfully to find Elizabeth's birth. Her granddaughter tells me that she was always told that Elizabeth & her family were from Ireland but there are no birth entries in Ireland that seem to match

Marie Celeste - Thank you for this 1891 entry, it certainly looks promising ... would be great to find this family in 1901 to see if they had a daughter, Elizabeth

Thank you all for your help

Thank you though

Oh no, he wasn't there but thank you for looking.
I am well & truly stuck on this one with extremely little info to go on .....

John Henry Gray age 24, Private in Army, father Harry Gibbs (deceased/Horse Keeper ... Harry was deceased, he didn't keep deceased horses!!)
married Elizabeth Mary Gibbs, age 21, father Walter Gibbs (deceased Pianoforte maker) in Paddington Register Office on 2nd May 1916

The family believe that the Gibbs came from Ireland and the Grays from Paddington but I have searched high & low in both without success.

Reggie, any help at all would be appreciated ... thank you
