Enoch Johnson was born 1782c in Thelwall, Cheshire and married someone called Elizabeth born 1785c I assume they married in Thelwall. They had 1 child Elizabeth who was born in 1826 in Thelwall. I think this Elizabeth was an only child as if the dates above are correct her mother would have been 41 when her child was born.
Wondered if anyone could tell me the surname of the Elizabeth Enoch married and where and when they married.

I'm slightly confused Maddie by the 1841 census which includes Ann Knight 25 and possibly her daughter Mary 1 week so I wondered if Elizabeth had been married before and was a widow when she married Enoch as Elizabeth would have been about 41 when daughter Elizabeth was born.

Mary Knight, in 1851, is described as grand-daughter, so Ann must have been Betty's daughter. I can't find a marriage for a Betty/Elizabeth to a Mr Knight or a baptism for Ann c1816.

Elizabeth daughter of Enoch and Betty married Thomas Hewitt and they also had a son Enoch born 1850. There is another member with this Enoch in her tree and I've tried to contact her but unfortunately she hasn't replied. Maybe she's changed her e mail address.

Thank you for that. I'd never thought of a will. Enoch Johnson was my husband's gt. Gt. Grandfather.

A friend managed to find a copy of Enoch's will on an internet site. It says that he left his widow the sum of 7/6p per week. He died in 1854 and I wondered if anyone had any idea what 7/6p is equivalent to now as I can't find anything on the internet.

Enoch died in 1854 and left £10 to his stepdaughter Mary Knight for when she attained the age of 21. Mary according to the 1841 census was 1 week old and in 1851 listed as 9 years old. So she was probably 12 when he died. As Enoch married Betty in 1824 how can Mary only born 1841 be his step daughter or is this another Mary?
The will was made in 1854 so must have been shortly before he died.
Why oh why do people in families use the same names over and over again. Was it just to make it harder for us to work out?
Puzzling.
