Added - it is Eliza marrying above, on Lancs bmd the 1931 marriage is recorded as Eliza Darby or James, so it looks like Olive was her daughter.

When both eliza and william marrid in 1931 they were both widows eliza was eliza james so could be a sister

Actually, don't think the above will help with the closed record - it looks like she is a relative of Eliza, when she married Claude in 1936 her name was Olive James. I think she was born in 1911 and Claude in 1903.

Eliza died in 1961 - her probate gives same address as 1939 register. She died 30/10/61, probate (with will) granted 5/12/1961 to Olive Cassell (wife of Claude John Andrew Cassell). Could this be a clue to the closed record?

As the record is closed it could be for a child who is in the house, not necessarily someone of an age to have died already - unfortunately as it's closed you may never know who the closed record actually is.

The Register was a working document & updated until 1992.

Although FMP are checking the death indices, if the person died after then, they may not yet have linked the two. This only applies if they died in England or Wales. Deaths abroad or in Scotland & NI won't generate a GRO registration. In those incidences you'd need to submit a recognised death certificate to have the 1939 entry opened.

No ones quite sure if they also check the deaths from 2006 onwards as the registration details aren't in the public domain. However, FMP may have access.

The entry for someone born 1915 or earlier should automatically be opened. Unfortunately there are images where some of the DOB details are unclear. Errors can creep in.
