Looking on behalf of a friend.
Florence Gertrude Cole married Percy Reginald Martin Bowyer in Greenwich in 1916.
I believe she was born in Greenwich 1d 1059 Jun qtr. 1899. and had two children, Rosie (1917) and Pearl, friend's mum, (1921), both in Coventry.

I can't find a record of her after that. There is a death in 1957 in Sturminster district, but having sent for the certificate that is not her.
Any suggestions welcome. please.

so Florence died before 1942 unless she did not die but left home

Coincidence that Florence and Percy share the same day and month birthdays (27th May) in 1897 and 1899, although my brother and wife do ditto.
So, if the above records relate to the correct person, Florence was alive in 1939, dead in 1942 and died again in 1987.

Well maybe they parted some time after the second child was born

It used to be a myth that if you had separated and not seen each other or knew of whereabouts that after 7 years the person was assumed dead

Some folks remarried on that premise

So she isn't at home in 1939 and maybe they thought of her as deceased without any proof she was

If she had left and lived with someone else using their name then finding her death will be almost impossible

If she died from June quarter 1969 onwards you can search for death with exact date of birth and 'Florence Gertrude' - worth considering?

The 1987 Florence Bowyer death posted by Malyon is likely to refer to this lady:

Patchem- I think Brian was referring to the birth date given on the death record posted by Malyon- which is unlikely to be the correct Florence as she was married to a Walter J Bowyer.
