There are quite a lot of options if you Google it. This is just one, but it looks promising.

I’m grateful for all the information received but does anyone know if I can look at marriage records for Sweden. Not sure if Pat and her husband married in England or Sweden.

KJA ..............

The 1939 Register was used as the basis for the NHS when that was introduced in 1947, and was then regularly updated by hand with deaths and women's marriages until about 1991

Hence why Ellen is shown first under her second married name with Woan in brackets.

PatW Report 17 Oct 2017 19:46

Pat’s sister Gabrielle had 3 children Ann J. Born 1948, Carolyn 1952 and Elaine 1962. All born in different places as they seemed to move about a lot.

Didn’t realise that her mother remarried. William Hubbersty was born in 1901 and died in Blackpool 1991. I don’t know where he was born. I wonder if that’s why Pat moved away.

Thomas her father had an accident in Manchester and was advised by the doctor that sea air would do him good so that’s why they moved to Blackpool. Thomas Woan died in 1947 in Blackpool so cant understand why Ellen has the name Habbersty/Hubbersty added to her name on the 1939 register.
All very interesting.
Thank you

Thank you for that. The 2 closed records are probably Pat and her sister Gabrielle Ratcliffe who was born in 1928. I’m intrigued by the Habbersty name added to her mother’s. Usually it’s a family name.

Pats mother’s maiden name was Ellen Ratcliffe and Ellen’s parents (Pats grandparents) were George James Ratcliffe and Elizabeth Drummond so the Habbersty name isn’t from there I don’t think.

Pat was born in Manchester 25/11/1930. She married John Ingemar Johansson who was born in 1931 in Anghagan Bohusian, Sweden. I believe Pat’s parents moved to Blackpool, Lancashire but I’m not sure if she moved with them as she worked in London. I can’t find a marriage for her in England so wondered if she married in Sweden. Ingemar and Pat had two children born 1959 and 1963 and both born in Anghagen Bohusian, Sweden so the marriage would have been before 1959.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to find a marriage in Sweden?
Thank you.
