Hi folks,
my ancestor was a superannuated officer of customs when he died in 1865. Does anyone have any clues as to where I might find out more about this ?
It seems that he worked his way up from mariner , through being a master mariner then a quarantine officer.
Liverpool Marine Museum couldn't help and I have to do everything online.
Thanks for looking.
Harpist.
