Re the question about three George Woods born in the same village within a few weeks of each other -

they weren't.

Bridge was the registration district, encompassing not only the village of Bridge, but also a large number of other villages:

Firstly thank you all for your replies they're much appreciated. I now have Georges marriage cert of 1886 to Sarah Ann Rogers. Sarah's name appears on all ten of Georges children's records. His fathers name appears as James Wood, probably from the nearby village of Waltham. I still cant get my head around the 3 Georges in the same village and born within weeks of each other however?

Im looking for my G Grandfather George Wood. I know he lived in the tiny village of bridge nr Canterbury. Ive found him using the GRO indexes. However, I have 3 George Woods, all born 1865, all in Bridge, two in the D 1/4 and one in the J 1/4 ,all in the same volume 02A. How is it possible to have three Georges born 1865 in a one horse village, all within months of each other? Incidentally all have a different mothers surname,Champs, Munns, and Reynolds. Even if I order all 3 certs id still not know which one is my GGrandfather, not knowing his mothers name. Any help would be appreciated
