Hi Nyx - well Laura was supposedly married although I have as yet not found a marriage record. However on the 1911 census she is down as the wife of William Taylor aged 30 (she is 27 at the time) and they have 3 children - Phoebe Laura, Eva Agnes, Alice Ivy. I know there were several children after this BUT Laura has a chequered history. I do believe that at some point she left her husband and set up with another man - who had money ! I think they may have had a couple of children themselves but she did have George ( Wilfred George?) at the time and he was sent to boarding school y this more wealthy man. I am trying to discover this for a friend of mine and if we are not successful in locating Laura in 1939 I will ring my friend and see if she knows the man she set up home with. Laura didn't die until 1981 aged 97. Oh my goodness Nyx - I am so sorry but Laura Jane King was supposedly married by 1939 and would have been recorded I expect as Laura Jane Taylor. So sorry for that mistake.

Was Laura married or do you have a date of birth for her? the two children named on the 1939 had mother's maiden name Carpenter, but doesn't look as though there was a son George to that couple

Could anyone who has access to this census look for Laura King and son George - (thought to be registered Wilfred George) who would be living in Gloucestershire probably the Cinderford area. George would be under 20 years of age. Many thanks.
