Help with Excel please

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with my query.
Sorry it has taken me this long to reply, but have been out all day and evening.

Now you have mentioned that Excel has never been free, it has jogged my memory and I realise you are all right. I've no idea why I thought it was free! :-)

Thanks again for all your suggestions, they have been very helpful. Tomorrow I'm going to look at them all and see which one is best for me.

Yes, Open Office is still free.

It offers text documents; spreadsheets; "presentation"; "drawing"; "database"; "formula" and templates.

I use the text documents all the time, and have used the spreadsheet function for basic things. I can't say how it compares with Excel, which I've never used.

Researching:
Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

I use Libra Office (free programme) and find it covers all I need

salc is correct. Excel has never been free and I have been using it for over twenty years both at home and in the office.
I don't know if the suite of programmes is still available but there was a free version of Microsoft Office clone called Open Office. I tried it and it was not bad but it did not give the full functionality available with the real product.

LibreOffice Calc as a spread sheet

look for it on you computer its on mine and free
never used it so don't know how good it is

Excel is- and always has been - part of Microsoft Office, which has never, to my knowledge, been free.

Google ‘spreadsheet’ - you may find a free one.

I used Excel to enter all my birth, marriage and death certificates.
Then I bought a new computer with Windows 10, and apparently you have to pay for Excel now. At the moment, I'm trying to use the basic unlincensed Excel but half of it doesn't work!

Does anyone know if there is a similar thing to Excel for free?
Or could anyone reccommend another way for me to record my family history certificates?
