I think that like all data based results it is only as good as the data inputted.

For Example: my OH is largely from up and dowen the east coast. Their strongest result is from East Anglia - the home of the 'secret' grandfather. We have loads of matches to that family. The grandmother is south and south west which is not highlighted - we have only one or two matches with that line.

My first analysis seemed spot on as it showed my paternal grandfather ethnicity as he was German .
I showed a very small percentage of British which was misleading as both sides of the family are very much British and mostly came from Essex and London areas
Of course further back ,although my research does go back to the 1700,s ,there could still be continental connections

The new analysis has taken down the European percentage and upped considerably the British one which I suppose is more accurate as three quarters of me is British

But it does work

I have made contact with others that are descended from siblings of my ancestors that go back to the early 1800,s.

I find it fascinating and another tool to finding who my family’s were

Ancestry have just changed the ethnicity estimates. Trying to get my head around the changes. :-S
