Is there a free site i can look at marriage records from around 1885 in Perth, Perthshire. Also is the 1911 census available cant see it on Ancestry. Searching a John Murphy b 1864 he is with family in 1881 age 17, he has a daughter Ann b 1888 in 1891 census living with her grandparents Thomas and Ann although listed as their child, by 1901 she is listed as grandchild.

Thank you

For 1911 you need Scotlandspeople - Ancestry does not have it.

IGI has various records - check out their coverage?

Where was John Murphy born and living, and names of other family members?

Who does Ann say her parents are on birth, marriage or death certificates?

Added:
Were all the Murphy family born in Ireland, and living there before 1881 census?

How do you know that Ann is his daughter, not one of his sisters?

patchem Report 12 Dec 2019 23:53

On the 1891 census that you quote, Ann's 'occupation' has been transcribed as 'weeks'
Could this actually refer to her age - that she is 3 weeks old at the 1891 census, so actually born in 1891 - which, I think, fits in with the 1901 that you also mention?

Thanks for your replies, i cant see the transcribed census but thanks for that note, John was born in Ireland 1864 son of Thomas Murphy and Ann Malley siblings Mary1866,Catherine1867,Ann 1873 Michael 1870, 1881 census Perth they are all together by 1891 John is gone, i know Michael emigrated to Aust, thats why i thought the child Ann b 1888/91 was Johns daughter but as you say could be daughter of Catherine or Mary if they did not marry.

I do not know any of the details of Ann b 1873 marriage etc only she is listed with her father in 1901 and Rae children.

Yes all children born in Ireland have the records, 1881 would be the first census.

Can you re-register using a new username and password, or ask for new password to be sent if same email account?

You can pay on scotlandspeople to see census details.

This is from free search of scotlandspeople, you would have to buy credits for full information:

If John shows as age 17 in 1881 then he could have been born in 1864 or 1863.
If he went to Australia OR America, then there are a lot of Irish John Murphys to sort out.
Have you tried to find his birth, or other information on his family from Ireland?
The more accurate you get the starting information, the more likely to follow and find him.

ArgyllGran has put
'Annie Murphy in the 1891 Scotland Census
Name: Annie Murphy Age: 16 Estimated birth year: abt 1875
Relationship: Daugh (Daughter)
Father's name: Thos Murphy Mother's name: Ann Murphy
Gender: Female Where born: Ireland
Registration Number: 387 Registration district: Perth
Civil Parish: Perth East Church Town: Perth County: Perthshire
Address: 12 Barossa St Occupation: Servant
ED: 3 Household schedule number: 188 Line: 11 Roll: CSSCT1891_117
Thos Murphy 50
Ann Murphy 45
Michael Murphy 18 - son
Annie Murphy 16 - daughter
Cath Murphy 21 - daughter
Ann Murphy 3 - daughter'

As I already pointed out Ann Murphy has occupation as 'weeks' and my suggestion that she is 3 weeks old, not 3 years old, so born in 1891 not 1887/1888, and indeed shows in 1901 census as age 10 and grandchild.

Thanks, Patchem.

I had meant to refer to your previous info on my post at the time, but forgot.
Was just copy/pasting the census as transcribed on Ancestry.
