I have my tree on Personal Ancestry File from the Church of Latter Day Saints.

Unfortunately, I don't think it is still available to install which is a shame but I have kept a couple of copies of the application so can install it on any new computers.

BUT it is excellent at pointing out inconsistencies as you make an entry.

Interesting, Kense.
I hadn't heard of that one.

There is a free program called Family Tree Analyzer which can be downloaded and used to analyse GEDCOM files. So anyone can export their GR tree and use that program to check for many error conditions. It can also produce various lists and summaries.

They may raise your hopes by saying they'll pass your suggestion on to the appropriate department - but that's the last you'll hear of it.

Still, no harm in trying! Good luck!

Thank you.
I'll send the suggestion to support, but from what you are both saying, I don't hold out much hope.

If you want to bring your suggestion to the attention of people who actually work for GR, you'd be best to email [email protected].

They will acknowledge your email within 3-5 days.
But don't expect them to act on your suggestion!
Members have made suggestions, or complaints about parts of the site not working properly, for many years without constructive response.

They are helpful if you email them about a practical problem with your personal tree on GR (not research queries, but just the operation of your GR tree), but no improvements are made to the website in general.

As Shirley says, really the only people reading these boards are not GR staff, but other members who enjoy helping others with their family tree searches.

David
They have stopped hot matches so don’t think they will introduce any new innovations

They seem to let the site run itself and it’s success really is the kindness of other members who do look ups etc . And the banter and friendship on the General board

Don’t think they even look at trees or what’s going on unless someone reports someone’s posting for whatever reason and they will delete the posting or let it stand

I have noticed that the site "My Heritage" has a 'Tree consistency checker'.
This is very useful as the site sends an email every month or so that indicates some people in your tree have dates that are possibly not reliable.
For example the dates of birth for some siblings are too close in age, or a member's marriage occurred before their birth date.
These are easily made mistakes and it is a terrific idea to bring them to your attention.
Perhaps Genes Reunited could introduce such a service.
