Hi, I am looking for any details of the Hitchins family specifically : John Hitchins born 1810 and married Anne Francis born 1835 and they had 5 children - John Francis / Fortescue / Mary Louisa / Charles (my ggg grandfather) and George.

In the 1841 census the transcription has mixed up two households.

John and Anne only have sons John and Fortescue and daughter Mary L. with them.

The next household is probably Anne's family (the Francis family). The may be living at the same address but they are a separate household.

Which of them went to South Afica - and when?

Only guessing but as Sue is in South Africa I would think it probably either her ggg grandfather Charles or one of his descendants.
