Women were not allowed to continue teaching after they married. This carried on until well into the twentieth century. I wouldn't have thought she'd have had time to rise to the ranks of headteacher before then.

She was certainly a teacher - but no proof of her being a head teacher, as far as censuses are concerned.

Perhaps her marriage cert would give her occupation.

From the records posted above, the date range would be approx 1889 - 1896.

FMP has "Teachers Registration Council Registers" but only from 1914-1948, maybe that's what the someone was thinking of, but wasn't sure of dates covered.

Info here from the National Archives may help.
There's a section about pupil teachers:

The National Archives seems to have records of some sort for a school, in Wick, Sussex - but I don't know if that's the school Emma worked at or not;

E/131 Flora McDonald County Junior School, at Wick (see E/131 Lyminster)

Her marriage:

Emma Naldrett
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1837-1915
Name: Emma Naldrett
Registration Year: 1896
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district: East Preston
Inferred County: Sussex
Volume: 2b
Page: 653
Records on Page:

William David Butcher
Emma Nalderett
Emma Naldrett

No occupation after she was married (housework and child-rearing would be enough. Anyway, it wasn't the norm for women to continue working after marriage.):

Emmie Butcher
in the 1901 England Census
Name: Emmie Butcher
Age: 25
Estimated birth year: abt 1876
Relation to Head: Head
Gender: Female

Registration district: Lymington
Sub-registration district: Lymington
ED, institution, or vessel: 2

Page Number: 17
Household schedule number: 117
Household Members:

Also no occupation in 1911 census.

In 1891 she's a "pupil teacher at school" , meaning she was helping to teach the younger children, while still being a pupil herself.

Emma Naldrew
in the 1891 England Census
Name: Emma Naldrew
[Emma Naldrett]
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Relationship: Daughter
Birth Year: 1877
Mother: Ellen Naldrew
Birth Place: Lyminster, Sussex, England

Emma Naldrew 14

So if she ever rose to be a head teacher, it must have been between 1891 and 1896 - which doesn't seem very likely, I'm afraid..

Maybe just possible in a very small village school.
