JAT Report 28 Sep 2020 11:09

I'm hoping for help in discovering the death details of my late cousin Margaret Anne Tait.
Margaret was born on 30.10.1951 in Edinburgh.
She married Sydney Craig Mutch in 1974.
Her mother's maiden suname was Barrett.
I believe she died some time after 2003 in England.
I know she lived at some time in Andover, Hampshire.
Thank you,
Jim T.

Did Sydney remarry in 1987 Edinburgh?

Look for the info yourself on the FREE to all GRO website, from where you can order a copy of the death cert

ErikaH Report 28 Sep 2020 13:07

No listing on the ER on FMP

Was her name at death 100% MUTCH?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 28 Sep 2020 13:13

There's no death for her as either Mutch or Tait on GRO or Scotlands People.

ErikaH Report 28 Sep 2020 13:17

Her husband divorced in 2004

If the woman isn't definitely deceased, her DoB should be removed from this post

alviegal Report 28 Sep 2020 13:18

There is a tree on ancestry that has her death in July 2009 Hampshire. There is absolutely nothing to back this up though.

Amendment to my post of 13.07

There is a listing for her name in Liverpool in 2014 - may not be the same woman, of course

I had looked only for Andover...............

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 28 Sep 2020 13:25

If she died in 2009, it wasn't under the name MUTCH

Hello to you all. Sorry I haven't been around to answer you. Thank you all for what you've done here.
I think ErikaH has found her re-married in 1979 in Edinburgh. I didn't know she had been married twice but I've just been on the phone to another cousin and he confirmed she was but couldn't say who her second husband was.
I've found the marriage on ScotlandsPeople, but can't get a certificate at the moment due to Covid restrictions.
I've looked on ScotlandsPeople for her death under both Watson and Tait but found nothing. I still think she would have died somewhere in England.
Thank you all again. Special thanks must go to ErikaH.
Could someone please tell me how I go about getting an English death certificate?
Regards to all,
JimT.

She’d married more than twice

I didn’t find the later info about her - that was down to alviegal

You can usually order a death cert from the GRO site, but, as they haven’t recorded the 2009 death, you won’t be able to so on this occasion

Keep monitoring the site and when the death appears, you will be able to order a copy cert

Hi Erika, thank you for that information. Am I right in thinking that yourself and alviegal have concluded that Margaret married Jonathan M Baker in 2004 and died on 29 May 2009?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 28 Sep 2020 18:31

That appears to be the case, but you'd have to buy the marriage cert to be sure.
(And the death cert when available.)

Hi alviegal. can you please tell me how to get into the Ancestry tree that has Margaret's death in July 2009 in Hampshire?
JimT.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 28 Sep 2020 20:07

You have to have a sub to Ancestry to see other people's trees.

If you do, click "Search", then "Public Member Trees" from the drop-down list.

The tree has her as Margaret-Anne Tait, with DOB 30/10/1952.
It gives no details of any of her husbands.

Parents:

George Douglas Tait 1928–2002
Mary Barrett 1925–1983

The only life events given for Margaret, apart from her birth and death, are the deaths of her parents.
One sibling, whose details have been kept private.
