Welcome to the boards.

If you look at Electoral Rolls (from drop-down list under "Search" at top right of this page), and search for Robert McCullagh born 1955, you'll see a result for one living in Thornliebank to 2019. He's quite possibly still there, and may just have opted out of the public ER.

Ancestry also has him at that address to 2007.

No middle initial is given, but only one Robert McCullagh was born in Scotland around 1955. He's the only one born between 1947 and 1968.

(Not that that means this is definitely the right man on the ER.)

You appear to have been born the year after your parents' marriage.
However, if he doesn't know about you - or even if he does - tread VERY carefully.

Researching:
