I have a mother of 11 children who was the first wife of a man in my tree. He married again after her death - no more children. When I then added the man as spouse to the mother Of the children it doesn’t add him as the father of the kids and if I try to individually add him as father to each of the children, his name pops up eleven separate times. Will I have to delete a day’s work and start again??

It sounds as if you typed in his details each time you added him as father to one of the children. If you use the Find Existing button you don't have to type his information each time and he is only one person on your tree, although he might be displayed more than once.

You refer to the mother of 11 children- was the man in question their father?

If so, how did you add them?

You should have started with the couple, and added one child as theirs, by adding a child to the man, and selecting the correct option for the mother then adding siblings to that child - which would have added them to both parents

It's hard to advise without knowing the order in which you put these people on your tree in the first place.

You say the man is in your tree.
Does that mean he was there first, perhaps because of his second marriage?

If so, who did you add next? The mother, or the children?

We need more details if we are to be able to help.
If youre willling to give me access to your tree, I'm happy to have a look.
