I know I would have to look at Parish Records but where can I find them on the web?

Family search is a good place to start

Try www.freereg.co.uk.

They don’t have full coverage but well worth a try. Some places have Online Parish clerks known as OPC. They will do the lookup for you. You would need to do a ‘search’ to find if the place has one. Also check out Genuki ‘place name’ that will usually tell you the dates covered. If you need a lot of entries for one place look at the Family history societies - they often sell their transcriptions on disc.

FMP and Ancestry have some. Obviously not free, but GR members will help, if asked

A lot depends on ‘where’ - some counties are better than others

Lancashire is particulalry well-served
