What is the significance of a small 's' after the page number on the marriage index?

I have seen it occasionally on the birth index, but haven't come across it on the marriage index.
When I clicked to see the actual image rather than the freebmd listing, the entry has been altered from the typed number and a different handwritten number recorded.

This is England late 1960s.

Think it means an alteration has been made on the info on the cert and it’s been re registered

Thank you Shirley.

That would fit.
Strange that I've never come across this before.
