John was probably buried in Stoke Damerel - but you'll probably never find a record of it.

The man who died in 1845 was aged 89 :

MCDOWELL, JOHN 89

Joysie -

As you'll know, the age of anyone who died 1837 - 1866 isn't given on FreeBMD - but it is shown on the GRO site:

www.gro.gov.uk

Unfortunately, you've been under the wrong impression that John died in 1849 since at least 2004, according to some of your previous threads:

Admittedly, the GRO site wasn't searchable at that time, but it has been for several years now, and is invaluable.

For a birth, it also gives you the mother's maiden surname - also invaluable.
