Thank you Shirley, the other women in the families I have found haven't had it written in the abbreviated form so it rather confused me. Especially as it looks more like a V than a U, thought it might be a voluntary thing

UDD. Means unpaid domestic duties

In other words a housewife !

Just found my grandmother on this registry and she and several of her neighbours are shown with the occupation VDD or could be UDD. Can anyone tell me what this is?
