GRO site won't help with an 1835 birth, unless it's inferred by a young death latter part of 1837 or later.

Not finding any evidence of birth or burial before 1841 census, for an Edward, in parish records.

If Charlotte was Charlotte Padgan, they married June 29th, 1835, East Stonehouse.

The Devon FHS has transcribed the parish records for Stoke Dameral. Each booklet costs around £3. PDF’s are sometimes available.

Not that it helps with the existence or otherwise of 'Edward', but three of the children were baptised as adults, two of them on the same day.

Virtually everything that can possibly be imagined with regard to these McDoweels has been posted multiple times on Joyce’s (at least) 30 threads about the name

None of us can find any online record of his birth, let alone his death.
