Can anyone help? Im looking for the final resting place of my great-grandmother Susan Ellen Herring (nee Painter). Whilst i have both birth1866 and death 1945 certificates I cant find any burial records. Susan ended her days here in Margate/Westgate in July1945. Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Check with the local cemetery

Have you looked at deceasedonline?

Have you tried phoning Margate cemetery. Cemetery offices usually have really good records - especially as you have the exact date of death.

Not all burial records are online.

I don't see her on Deceased online - full country not covered.

Could she have been cremated?

PM from Kevin - Crem didn't open until 1966.

There's this article if you google -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-11372808

"Details of 146,000 burials and cremations in the Thanet district, dating back more than 150 years, have been scanned onto a computer.".........................."Thanet District Council's registrar's team can now view the records from their computers" etc

Thanet council can still tell you whether buried or cremated and where

There is a crematorium at Hawkinge near Folkestone and they serve a big area even outside Folkestone

But in any case the council should be able to tell you

May charge a look up fee though as many councils have started to do this
